It Will Take Your Breath Away.

Nestled along the banks of the massive Flaming Gorge Reservoir in remote northeastern Utah, Manila offers recreationists, adventurers, sportsmen and nature lovers an experience unlike any other. The town sits in a charming ranchers' valley surrounded by unspoiled wilderness-the high Wyoming plains to the north, the 13,000-foot Uinta Mountains to the west and south, and a geological wonderland of colorful, fossil-bearing rock to the south and east.

Boasting 300 miles of pristine shoreline along high benches, rock canyons, ancient forests, and Wyoming desert badlands, the 91-mile-long aquatic paradise of Flaming Gorge Reservoir beckons millions of water enthusiasts every year with scenic boating, water skiing, deep water diving and signature blue-ribbon fishing. These famous angling waters have produced state and world record size catches for mackinaw, German brown and rainbow trout. Kokanee salmon and smallmouth bass are also very plentiful. Below the dam the Green River offers world class fly-fishing and whitewater rafting.

The surrounding mountains are full of elk, deer, birds, and mountain lions, making the area a haven for hunters. Registered guides are available for both big-game hunting expeditions and chartered fishing trips. Hikers, bikers, ATV riders and nature-lovers have too many options to count--from access to hundreds of miles of trails to plenty of spectacular photo and wildlife-viewing opportunities, many along the main highway. During winter, deep snows in the surrounding highlands and mountains create a playground for snowmobilers and cross-country skiers with over 250 miles of groomed and ungroomed trails that climb over high mountain passes and cross serene alpine meadows.

Manila's ideal location along Utah State Highway 43 makes it the western gateway to Flaming Gorge Country, giving every kind of visitor access to an unprecedented array of recreational opportunities year-round. Manila is less than two hundred miles from the Salt Lake City--close enough for a weekend getaway, far enough to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and to experience the beauty of an entirely different world. In town, visitors can easily find food, lodging, gasoline, camping supplies and other recreational items, making the area a convenient home base for any adventure. The valley is protected from wind and snow, and temperatures are generally more moderate than those in the Salt Lake Valley and along the Wasatch Front. In Flaming Gorge Country, noise and pollution do not exist. The sky is blue, the lake clear, the air clean, the stars numberless at night. One visit and you'll agree: Manila is one of Utah's best-kept secrets--one worth experiencing again and again
